I want to sit quiet for a long time,
Not the restless quiet of waiting,
Nor the burdened hush of unsaid words,
But the kind that melts into the air,
Soft, weightless, effortless.
No thoughts knocking at my mind’s door,
No words forming, rising, dissolving,
Just silence stretching like an endless sky,
Where I am neither lost nor found - Just being.
I want to gaze without meaning,
Let my eyes rest on the world
As it is - without a need to name it,
A bird on a wire, a leaf adrift,
The way sunlight leans against old walls.
And in this quiet,
I will inhale like the tide pulling back,
Exhale like the waves touching the shore,
Steady, deep, whole,
A moment needing nothing more.
I want to sit quiet for a long time.
