On the park bench, they sit alone
An old couple, weathered and forlorn
They think of how the years went by
And remember all the goodbyes with a sigh
The children they've raised, have grown and gone
And now they must face each new dawn
With nothing but memories of days gone by
And the love that keeps them from asking why
They sit together, holding hands
Watching the world pass by, like grains of sand
No words are spoken, none need to be said
Their love speaks volumes, in their hearts it is spread
The park is their haven, a place of peace
Where they can escape and find release
From the lonely life they lead at home
And the silence that fills it, like a tomb
They sit on the bench, watching the sun
As it slowly sets, when the day is done
And as they rise, to leave the park
Their love still shines, like a bright, spark
For though they may be old and grey
Their love is constant never fading away
And as they walk hand in hand each day
They know that in each other’s heart they will always stay
